First Tracks
We are re-inventing the First Tracks program to simplify powder skiing enthusiasts announcing their intentions
to ski powder early the following day, or to note what occurred skiing powder for themselves or the group that
met. Everyone who joins the group (with your own id/password) is a member and can subsequently send email to the
group or check out who is on the list and contact individuals directly.
Chris Nelson will be the moderator of the group and can decide if any of the group's email exchanges warrant
publication here.
How do I sign up?
- Send an email to firsttracks-join@tdski.com. Follow instructions in the confirmation email you receive.
- A general introduction message will be sent once your request had been fulfilled by the list manager. This overview will also indicate how you may leave the list, change your email or privileges.
What do I, as a First Tracks member, need to do?
- When you see a significant storm coming, you can send out an email
to firsttracks@tdski.com in the evening for the following morning.
We ask those members who plan to ski the following day to
send a reply and include firsttracks@tdski.com with their choice of area to
ski (this ensures all members see your reply). With this information,
list members can coordinate meeting at various
ski areas. The possible areas, depending on weather, and wind
conditions could be any of the above major ski areas, plus
Tahoe Donner, or Homewood.
- A good meeting place and time should be Northwoods parking lot
at 7:30 am. (We want to be at the front of the line with the
snowboarders.)
- The mantra: “no friends on powder days” should
not be our motto. We might help each other a bit.
- Second Tracks could be instituted on second days after a storm,
designating Tahoe Donner or Homewood where there are still
some clean places. On these days we can concentrate on a bit of coaching
each other.
- If a storm hits on one of our club ski days, we should try to
adjust the program to fit in with the club ski day.
- When you sign up, please offer any suggestions you feel will
benefit the program.
